Please welcome Dr. Tara Evans to Purdy Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Evans grew up in Spokane, WA with many pets including dogs, guinea pigs and hamsters. After graduating from WSU with a degree in Zoology, she stayed in Pullman, WA to attend WSU’s college of veterinary medicine, obtaining her doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 2012. She has a special interest in emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery and pocket pet medicine.

Dr. Evans lives in Gig Harbor, WA with her partner, Joe, and her Chocolate Lab, Kodiak. In her spare time she enjoys boating, fishing, spending time with friends and family and taking Kodi to the local dog parks.

She is available for appointment Monday, Thursday, Friday and every other Wednesday and Saturday.

Summer is here! Fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites and heartworm become a bigger threat this time of year.

 

Here is a list of products we carry and what they do:

Trifexis (dogs)

Active against: fleas, heartworm and intestinal parasites
Route of administration and duration of action: Oral tablet given monthly

Revolution (cats)
Active against: fleas, intestinal parasites, ear mites, and heartworm
Route of administration and duration of action: Topical placed between the shoulder blades and applied monthly.
*Most comprehensive product for cats

Comfortis (dogs & cats)
Active against: fleas
Route of administration and duration of action: Oral tablet given monthly

Activyl (dogs & cats)
Active against: fleas
Route of administration and duration of action: Topical placed between the shoulder blades and applied monthly.

Bravecto (dogs)
Active against: fleas and ticks
Route of administration and duration of action: Oral tablet given every three months
*dog must be at least 6 months of age

Tri-Heart Plus (dogs)
Active against: Heartworm and intestinal parasites
Route of administration and duration of action: Oral chewable tablet given monthly

*Pets are at a low risk of contracting heartworm disease in our area, however all of the heartworm prevention products are active against many intestinal parasites. Several of these intestinal parasites can infect humans, especially children, the elderly and immunocompromised. For this reason, we recommend monthly heartworm prevention.
